U.S. U-15 GNT TRAINING CAMP UNDERWAY AT HDC: The U.S. Under-15 Girls
National Team is currently holding its second training camp of the year at The Home Depot
Center in Carson, Calif. The 23-player camp started last Saturday, May 20, and runs
through May 26. U.S. U-15 GNT head coach Tad Bobak has called in a completely different
roster than from the first U-15 training camp of the year held in January, as he evaluates
a large pool of players, some of whom may be a part of the team which will compete for the
USA in the first-ever FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup, to be held in 2008. Almost all of
the players in camp were born in 1991 (the cut-off year for the first U-17 world
championship), with the exception of midfielder Alexandria Crown and forward Haley Boysen,
who were both born in 1992.

| FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2008 | ||
In early 2005, FIFA began work on creating an all-new women's world youth competition as part of its commitment to the development and improvement of the women's game. In order for the project to be successful, it was necessary to bring the age groups in women's football in line with the men's game. As a result, the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship Thailand 2004 was the last of its kind, with the following edition, Russia 2006, being played at U-20 level.
The new FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup will take place in 2008 with 16 teams taking part,
as approved by the FIFA Executive Committee. Three countries, Chile, Ecuador and New
Zealand have all expressed interest in hosting the first-ever edition of this tournament,
which is open to players born after 1 January 1991.
